Organization Profile

Norwood Child & Family Resource Centre provides programs that strengthen and enrich the lives of children and parents. Programs are delivered using a holistic approach to support the social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical and creative needs of children in the community.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Norwood Manager provides direct supervision to the Norwood Coordinators responsible for the delivery of services to children and families within the communities we serve. The Norwood Manager works collaboratively with Norwood  leadership to perform responsibilities such as reflective supervision of staff, evaluation, program development, oversight of program deliverables, report writing, coordination of services, contributing to the strategic plan and supporting best practices throughout all areas of Norwood.

Norwood programs are targeted for families with children birth – 5 years old. Early childhood experiences are aimed at fostering optimal child development and healthy parent-child attachment.  Parent education opportunities are created to support building the capacity of families.  Family support services are provided to support families as the child’s first and most important teacher.  Information and referral is a key practice in supporting families to grown and learn within their own communities.

The position requires a flexible work schedule that includes evening and weekend shifts.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide direct supervision and support to Norwood Coordinators including performance reviews and ongoing support
  • Oversight of program deliverables to children, families and the community ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Leading a team of multidisciplinary professionals to meet agency outcomes
  • Implement appropriate documentation and protocol measures, best practices in conjunction with Norwood’s policies and practices, funder requirements and program outcomes
  • Development of proposals and reports based on expected services and program implementation
  • Liaison between partnering agencies and external groups; promoting and facilitating effective communication and cooperation
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Early Years inclusive of Child Care Licensing, Accreditation and the Alberta Curriculum Framework
  • Collaborate as a member of the agency leadership team; promote and model organizational values, contribute to strategic planning, program development and coaching of staff
  • Connect the agency work and programs to the community through consultation and networking processes through the development of partnerships

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Possess a completed diploma or degree in Early Learning and Child Care or Human Services field
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 5 years working with children and families in a community based setting
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with committees, community partnership, professional organizations and other stakeholders in the community
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills to effectively manage events and projects
  • Effective leadership skills including performance management processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Adapts to changing work environments; work priorities and organizational needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A current First Aid Certificate, Criminal Record Check and CWIS Record Check
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Norwood Child & Family Resource Centre offers a compassionate team environment with a competitive compensation plan, full benefits, paid time off at Christmas and Spring Break (in addition to regular vacation), a commitment to staff celebration and recognition, a strong focus on employee wellness, team building activities, and ongoing professional development. The starting salary for this role is $30.20 – $33.97 per hour based on a 35 hour week.
